Senior officers of Tysa customs post (the Zakarpattia region) were suspended Thursday after Hungary's border guards found a large batch of smuggled cigarettes and amber in a vehicle that arrived from Ukraine.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

He said Hungarians found 125,000 packs of cigarettes and 916 kg of amber in a vehicle that had passed through Ukrainian customs control.

"A member of the Zakarpattia region prosecutor's office served indictment to Tysa's chief customs inspector Berchi (part 2 of article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), who carried out the customs clearance of the vehicle.

"He was served a petition for the preventive measure of pretrial detention. The public servant was also suspended from post at Tysa customs under request of the prosecutor's office," Lutsenko reported.
