As reported by Censor.NET, the minister said in an interview to Nastoiashcheie Vremia news outlet.
"This war is already taking place - cyberwarfare, war of propaganda, provocations," Linkevičius said.
According to him, there was a time when preliminary artillery bombardment was used before close engagement.
"It is not necessary now as the bridgehead for further actions can be formed just by brainwashing as it was in Crimea, in my considered opinion," he said.
"I always argue when I hear someone saying that the conflict in Ukraine is an internal problem. It is definitely an external aggression. We see no way out of this situation so far. Anyway, this does not apply to Ukraine alone. Let's take a look at Syria: the eighth veto was imposed by that same state," Linkevičius said.
As reported, the governments of the Baltic states intend to seek enhanced security measures from NATO in connection with Russia's large-scale military exercises scheduled to be held in September 2017.
