This was announced by lawmaker (Samopomich faction) and chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Anti-Corruption Committee Yehor Soboliev, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
"You know that our committee has announced a contest. Out of strong candidates, we have confirmation from American prosecutor Martha Boersch and Spanish prosecutor Carlos Castresana. We are very pleased with this," he said during a committee meeting with representatives of the USAID Rada program on Tuesday in Kyiv.
"However, if you have other people among your friends and partners who won't let the parliament down if chosen as auditor of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, we'll be grateful," the MP added.
He reminded May 3 is the deadline for submitting applications to take part in the contest.
Feb. 23, Soboliev reported attempt to appoint "certain British national Mr. Brown" as independent NABU auditor. March 16, several members of the Verkhovna Rada Anti-Corruption Committee recommended two candidates for the post of NABU auditor. According to Soboliev, that decision was illegitimate. Petro Poroshenko Bloc (PPB) faction MP Mustafa Nayyem said: "PPB and People's Front members tampered the documents and shoved British national Nigel Brown who appeared as if from nowhere."
As a result, the Verkhovna Rada failed to support the decision to choose NABU auditor from two nominations - Storch and Brown. March 17, the meeting of the anti-corruption committee that was supposed to consider the issue of NABU auditor did not take place due to the non-attendance of lawmakers.
