Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak and members of the United States House Committee on Armed Services discussed the current situation in the east of Ukraine, the progress of the military reform and the possibility of supplying lethal defensive aid to Ukraine.

"The United States are interested in Ukraine's success and effective reforms. During today's meeting, representatives of the U.S. Congress Armed Services Committee confirmed their clear stance on backing Ukraine in our struggle for territorial integrity and expressed admiration for the courage of Ukrainian servicemen who confront the enemy," Poltorak wrote.

He added the meeting discussed the current situation in the east of Ukraine, the progress of the military reform and the possibility of providing Ukraine with defensive weapons.
