Ukraine PM set to punish responsible authorities for poor pavement quality

Prime Minister Hroisman demands that those responsible for poor quality of road repair be held accountable.

He said it at today's cabinet meeting, Censor.NET reports.

"This year we've changed our approach to the reconditioning of roads. It is very important that we systematically deal with the road issue. We must create a system to construct, maintain and repair roads," the prime minister said. "We started it earlier this year, which suggests that we are a little better prepared, but that's not enough. I am sure that the quality of work should be our main priority. I want to know where the last year's asphalt disappeared with this year's snow. And I want strict liability, including criminal, because budget funds were spent inefficiently. 95 percent of Ukrainian roads are in a tragic state today, because the government had other priorities during many years."
