 Poroshenko, Pence talk escalation in Donbas and Russian ally Assad's war crimes

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.

Poroshenko informed the U.S. vice president on aggravation of the security situation in the Donbas, in particular violation of the cease-fire regime by Russia. In turn, Vice President Michael Pence emphasized that the United States fully support Ukraine in its struggle for restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ukraine's president welcomed the latest steps by Donald Trump administration in Syria to prevent further war crimes of Bashar Assad's regime against civilians.

Michael Pence thanked Ukraine for solidarity with the U.S. after a chemical attack in Idlib. The parties also coordinated the calendar of bilateral contacts at the highest level.

Vice President Pence congratulated President Poroshenko on the allocation of another IMF tranche noting success of the Ukrainian authorities in the implementation of important reforms.
