 Russia amassed 18,000 troops and large number of military hardware at Ukrainian border, - Defense Ministry

The Russian Federation has deployed over 18,000 personnel, 1,370 tanks and combat vehicles, and 700 combat aircraft near its border with Ukraine.

This was stated by First Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Rusnak at the Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council (UNIC) meeting in Kyiv, Censor.NET informs referring to Ukrinform.

"More than 18,000 strong units of the Russian Armed Forces, about 1,370 tanks and armored combat vehicles, about 300 pieces of artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, about 700 combat planes and helicopters, 24 warships are currently deployed by the Russian Federation in the immediate vicinity of the Ukrainian border," he said.

Rusnak stressed that Russia is testing new types and methods of warfare as well as the advanced weapons and military hardware in Ukraine.

According to him, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation plans to fully deploy the 20th and 8th Armies in the Voronezh and Rostov Oblasts by the end of 2018.
