 Merkel, Hollande and Putin talk situation in Donbas

The leaders of Germany, France and Russia discussed the situation in the Donbas on phone and agreed to continue the Normandy format process.

Censor.NET reports citing the Kremlin press service.

"It was agreed to continue contacts in the Normandy format, taking into account the results of the consultations of aides scheduled for April 6," the message says.

The three leaders stressed the need for the warring sides to ensure a stable cease-fire along the entire contact line, comply with the "Easter truce" announced by the Minsk Contact Group on April 1, as well as remove heavy weapons and disengage forces and equipment, in particular in Stanytsia Luhanska.

According to the press service, Putin spoke in favor of taking urgent action to implement the political aspects of the Minsk agreements and stressed the importance of synchronizing steps in the spheres of security and political settlement, which should be reflected in a draft road map being developed by the aides of the leaders in accordance with the decisions of the Normandy Four summit held in Berlin on Oct. 19, 2016.
