Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak announced the start of negotiations with Harjit Sajjan on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.
"A meeting with Defense Minister of Canada Harjit Sajjan and Chief of the General Staff, Colonel-General Jonathan Vance has started.
"The agenda includes the consideration of the situation in Ukraine and the signing of an agreement on defense cooperation," he wrote.
Later, Ukraine's Ambassador to Canada Andrii Shevchenko said on Twitter: "Everything is ready for the signing of a defense agreement between Ukraine and Canada. Ministers Poltorak and Sajjan are inspecting the guard of honor."
"This is how the history is written: Ukraine and Canada have signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Defense Sector," he continued.
"The defense deal between Ukraine and Canada records on paper the partnership that our military have built: values, solidarity, brotherhood in arms," the ambassador stressed.
"The cooperation encompasses five priority areas: defense development and production, supply, logistics, defense policy, training," Shevchenko added.
