According to eyewitnesses, the man dropped a backpack in the carriage and got out. An explosion followed moments after.

A photo of the alleged terrorist was also published by Fontanka.

He is claimed to have entered the Petrogradskaya metro station 20 minutes before the blast rocked the Tekhnologicheskiy Institut station.

On April 3, a blast occurred at the Tekhnologicheskiy Institut station, in the center of Russia's second city. According to Open Russia NGO, there were two explosions: the first blast rocked the Tekhnologicheskiy Institut station while the second one occurred between the Sennaya Ploshchad and Tekhnologicheskiy Institut stations.

As reported by Gazeta.ru and RBC, at least 10 people died in the bombing. TASS news agency reported an unidentified explosive device was triggered on a metro train.
