 Ukraine engages in talks on anthracite deliveries from US, Minister Nasalyk says

Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk says Ukraine is negotiating anthracite coal deliveries from the United States.

The official told journalists, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"We were informed about a possibility to import 2.5-3 million tons of coal from the U.S. I, as a minister, sent a letter to the U.S. Department of State requesting assistance in anthracite coal supplies," Nasalyk said.

The minister added that the majority of power generating companies using thermal power plants had already started entering into contracts for purchase of coal including from the Republic of South Africa.

The ministry expects the first batch of coal to be delivered from RSA in May.
