"Over the past 24 hours, Russian terrorist forces shelled the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 94 times, using mainly the heavy weapons banned by the Minsk agreements," the statement reads.
According to the ATO Staff, most cases of shelling were recorded in the Donetsk sector.
"The militants fired at the defenders of Troitske from 122 mm artillery, 120 and 82 mm mortars, and grenade launchers. 120 mm and 82 mm mortars hit Ukrainian positions near Verkhniotoretske, Luhanske and Opytne. Strongholds near Butivka Mine came under 120 mm mortar and IFV fire. The militants attacked the ATO forces' positions at Avdiivka and Opytne with tanks, 82 mm mortars and grenade launchers. At the same time, the positions near Zaitseve came under 82 mm mortar and grenade launcher fire. The strongholds near Nevelske were attacked by militants' 120 mm mortars, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. Enemy snipers were spotted at Avdiivka and Verkhniotoretske,'' the statement reads.
The Mariupol sector became the hottest spot of heavy shelling yesterday. Russian hybrid forces shelled Ukrainian positions near Vodiane and Hnutove with Grad rocket systems, 122 mm artillery, 120 and 82 mm mortars. The strongholds near Shyrokyne, Pavlopil and Krasnohorivka were mortared with 122 and 120 mm shells.
The militants attacked the Ukrainian marines in Shyrokyne with ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns and IFV weapons. The positions near Berezove were hit by grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns. The militants mortared Talakivka with 120 mm shells.
In the Luhansk sector, the militants shelled Ukrainian strongholds in the vicinity of Krymske with 152 mm artillery systems, tanks, 120 and 82 mm mortars. The militants mortared the positions near Popasna and Novooleksandrivka with 120 mm shells and fired at Katerynivka strongholds from grenade launchers.
The militants also fired at Marinka checkpoint from small arms.
"Ukrainian servicemen repeatedly opened fire in order to suppress the enemy's firing activity," the ATO press center informs.
On March 30, the militants assaulted the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 69 times.
