"One big oligarch personally threatened me," - Hontareva

Since becoming the chair of the National Bank of Ukraine upon request of President Poroshenko, Valeria Hontareva has closed 87 ailing banks in Ukraine.

Censor.NET reports citing Financial Times.

According to Hontareva, there has been "absolutely incredible pressure" from vested interests she confronted.

"I can call it sustained harassment, there was absolutely tons of fake information, manipulation, real absolutely evil slander about me personally, about the national bank team," she said, dismissing all this as "black PR" by opponents.

"One big oligarch personally threatened me - physically threatened me - even in this office," Hontareva added. She refused to name him.
