Censor.NET reports citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to the Emergency Service, the was not a single fire reported in Balakliia ammunition depot as well as nearby settlements yesterday, March 25.
The railway traffic was resumed. At the same time, the airspace over Balakliia remains closed. Ordnance units of the Emergency Service are cleaning the territory of the town from explosive items and ammunition remains. Five sectors of the town have been completely cleared.
Since the beginning of works, there were 620 pieces of explosive ordnance extracted. The total number of forces engaged into demining operation is 75 ordnance technicians and 27 special fire-fighting vehicles.
Public awareness campaign was organized for local population regarding rules of behavior when finding pieces of explosive ordnance.
As reported, March 23, 2017, an emergency arose at the military ammunition depot of the Defense Ministry at Balakliia, the Kharkiv region, due to explosions of ammunition. Several storage areas of rocket and cannon artillery ordnance (tank and artillery missiles of 125 mm and 152 mm caliber) were impacted by explosion and caught fire, which caused the detonation of the ammunition. Residents of the nearby areas have been evacuated.
Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios said the emergency in Balakliia was an act of sabotage.
