One in four employed Ukrainians avoid paying taxes, social policy minister says

Four out of 16 million Ukrainian jobholders avoid paying taxes to the state budget.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Espresso.TV, Minister of Social Policy Andrii Reva said at the Regional Development Council session.

"Only 10 out of 16 million employed persons have got insurance as of today. The number of pensioners reaches 12 million. This means that the majority of citizens of working age do not pay social insurance contributions. The number of single social tax payers is significantly less than the number of pensioners," the minister said.

According to him, about 4 million citizens dodge taxes.

"That is one in every four," Reva added.

He stressed that great deal of wages was paid off the books.

"We observe the lack of motivation among the citizens to legally pay taxes and social contributions," the official summed up.
