Donetsk region police special operations forces unit commander dwelled on his relations and meetings with Khodakovsky in an interview with Censor.NET.
"I have never been a member of an illegal armed group. As for the meetings with Khodakovsky, the first one was in April 2014. I later learned that he had visited all the former employees [of Ukraine's security agencies - ed.] at that time. Our meeting near the circus lasted for about 15 minutes. It was a chat about nothing, but he sought my political views. I told him that I was unemployed. The second time we met in May. He did not offer to join him to fight against Ukraine, but to enforce order in the city. I decided to leave [the Donbas] after the third and last meeting with Khodakovsky," Holuban said.
"We met not far from the SBU building. It was before May 23, but after May 18. Khodakovsky was accompanied by three Ossetians. He said that Russia is going to occupy the Donbas the same way it pulled off in Crimea. Frankly speaking, I did not play a hero then as armed people were standing behind me. He said that I had to make a stand, because "you're either with us, or against us." I replied that I needed some time to think it over. "Don't take too long," he said. I have had no more contacts with him ever since. I did not take part in any of his activities," Holuban said.
