"More than 2,000 women have joined the contract army since the beginning of this year. The same number obtained the status of combatants. The proportion of women joining the army to defend Ukraine is constantly growing. It was previously impossible to imagine a female sniper or scout wearing a uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, our women have the opportunity to occupy greater number of military positions thanks to the latest regulatory changes. There are already more than a hundred of them, and we are not going to stop," Poroshenko's statement reads.
