 Wife of Gen. Nazarov, major suspect in Il-76 crash case, works in High Qualification Commission of Judges, relatives of victims say

Sister of an Il-76 crash victim Iliana Haiduk has stated that the wife of Major General Viktor Nazarov, who is tried as a major suspect in the case, works in High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

Haiduk said on air of Hromadske Radio, Censor.NET reports.

"Nazarov's wife, Oksana Petrivna, works in High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine. I would like to ask if she could put pressure on judges who will handle our case? And Nazarov's son is a tax inspection employee," she said.

Haiduk said the relatives of the killed military are expecting the general to be convicted. She recalled the time after the tragedy, in summer 2014, when Nazarov showed no signs of sympathy to the relatives of the killed military and blamed the fighters for the crash.

Censor.NET has found out that Olha Petrivna Nazarova is a deputy head of the Judicial Career Department of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

On Dec. 17, 2015, the Pavlohrad city district court of the Dnipropetrovsk region started the trial in the case of the killing of 49 Ukrainian military in the Il-76 plane over Luhansk.

The court tries one man - Major General Viktor Nazarov, who commanded the ATO Staff at that moment. He is charged under part 3 article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (habitual negligence in office during war, causing grave consequences).

According to the conclusion of the commission that has carried out a complex military-tactical criminalistic analysis, Nazarov was the one directly obliged to take measures to suppress the air defense of terrorists and ensure the safety of Il-76 flight over enemy-controlled Luhansk on June 14, 2014.

The investigators have interrogated 132 witnesses and conducted 112 examinations.
