The opening night of the English-language movie "Bitter Harvest" was held in Kyiv on Feb. 22.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Congratulations on the opening night of the first English-language feature film that depicts one of the greatest tragedies of the twentieth century - the Holodomor [a man-made famine by Stalin's regime - Ed. ] in Ukraine.

"The masterminds behind this heinous crime against humanity had long taken efforts to hush it up, and even now their followers are trying to play down the extent of the tragedy.

"I agree with Maryna [Poroshenko's wife - Ed.] in saying that Ukraine will hold out, like it did many times before, in the face of destruction and win the decisive fight against the aggressor!

"Thanks to everyone involved in the creative embodiment of the historical truth about the Holodomor! I am sure this movie will become a revelation for the millions of viewers around the world," the president said.
