 "Transporting soldiers in boxcars is no more acceptable," - Poroshenko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has reacted to the fact of soldiers being transported in freight cars, calling it "unacceptable."

Presidential press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"And by the way, transporting soldiers in boxcars is no more acceptable. I think you understand what I'm saying," he quoted Poroshenko as telling the military leadership today.

"I also stress the need to take into account the routes of massive military transportation during the construction and repair of roads scheduled for this year. I ask the General Staff to coordinate the issue with the Cabinet of Ministers and ensure the allocation of funds for the restoration of certain railway sections and maintenance of the existing ones," the president added.

Recently, journalists discovered that Ukrainian military who accompany weapons from their permanent places of location to the frontline in the Donbas are being transported there in freight wagons without heat, sleeping places and toilets. The investigation caused a stir among Ukrainian public and forced some reaction among military command. It was reported later that a decision has been made to change the conditions of weapon transportation for soldiers who accompany it.
