As reported by Censor.NET citing the presidential press office, Poroshenko congratulated Tillerson on having been appointed to the post and wished him success in his responsible foreign political mission.
The president informed the U.S. Secretary of State on the recent escalation of the situation in Donbas and violation of the Minsk agreements by Russia.
In his turn, the U.S. Secretary of State informed on the results of the G-20 meeting at the level of the Foreign Ministers in Bonn and emphasized the importance of implementing the Minsk agreements.
The parties discussed counteraction to the ongoing Russian aggression and restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, including Crimea, particularly via the policy of sanctions.
Poroshenko and Tillerson outlined a range of issues that need urgent attention at this stage of strengthening strategic partnership between Kyiv and Washington.
Poroshenko invited his interlocutor to visit Ukraine.
