31.7 billion hryvnia paid to budget by Ukrainian companies in occupied areas of Donbas, - Tandit

Adviser to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Yurii Tandt says Ukrainian companies operating in occupied areas paid 31.7 billion hryvnina ($1.17 billion) to the state budget in 2016.

800 million hryvnia of this amount were allocated for military tax that covers the Army's needs, Censor.NET reports citing 5 Channel.

"The latest number should make the separatists suffer. The "to trade or not to trade" with "DPR/LPR" [self-styled breakaway Donbas republics - ed.] issue is worth about one billion dollars. The total income of the Ukrainian budget in 2016 were 616 billion hryvnia, according to the National Bank. Thus, the share of the "DRP/LPR" in the state budget was about 5 percent last year.

"To be honest, it's too little as for those who used to say they were feeding the entire country. I expected more," blogger Denys Kazanskyi commented on Tandit's estimates on his Facebook page.
