Lutsenko slams fake cases against foreign investors in Ukraine

Prosecutor General Lutsenko has urged his subordinates to keep a close eye on the cases instituted against domestic medium-sized businesses and foreign investors.

As reported by Censor.NET citing 112 Ukraine, Lutsenko cited several examples that in his opinion resemble the persecution of entrepreneurs rather than criminal probes.

According to Lutsenko, instead of looking for real criminal groups, law enforcers go to various businesses, especially in Kyiv, bully them and charge money for leaving them alone.

"I've recently learned from the business ombudsman about a 'screaming' case opened by the SBU. It appears that a world-famous Austrian company produces fillers for sausages and probably mixes in some drugs. I can imagine the Austrians sitting and thinking how to fill Ukrainian sausages with drugs. The delivery was blocked during six months. I had to personally supervise the tests to finally arrive at a conclusion that such charges are nonsense," Lutsenko said.
