Denis Voronenkov, a former member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation (Russian Federation Communist Party faction), a member of the parliamentary committee on security and corruption prevention was granted Ukrainian citizenship in December 2016.
The journalist noted that Voronenkov's wife, also a former State Duma deputy representing the ruling United Russia party, famous opera singer Maria Maksakova, left Russia with her husband. According to Censor.NET sources, she has not applied for the Ukrainian citizenship so far.

"I certainly asked Voronenkov during the interview what testimony he gave to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine in the case of Yanukovych's treason, why he voted for Russia's annexation of Crimea, and his view on Russia's aggression against Ukraine," Butusov wrote.
