"Kyiv to talk about impossibility of local elections in Donbas," - Poroshenko on coming Normandy Four ministerial meeting

The Ukrainian president has stressed the elections in the Donbas will not be possible until Russia withdraws its troops.

At the coming meeting of the foreign ministers of the Normandy format states, Ukraine will be talking about the impossibility of holding local elections in the Donbas with the Russian military on the ground. This was announced by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during his visit to Ukraine's western city of Ivano-Frankivsk, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine.

"During a spontaneous debate that we've had with our partners recently, we once again clearly emphasized that the political points of the Minsk agreements can only be implemented after an obvious and undeniable progress is reached in terms of their safety component. We see elections at gunpoint and with Russian soldiery on the ground as something absolutely unacceptable and impossible. This is the position Pavlo Klimkin [Ukraine's foreign minister] will stick to during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Normandy format states," he said.
