As reported by Censor.NET, Chief of Kyiv's Desnianskyi district police precinct Oleksandr Kosovskyi said forensic examination was commissioned to establish the cause of Chanov's death.
According to him, the law enforcers found that unconscious Chanov was brought to a hospital at 10 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2017. The ambulance brought him from the village of Roslavychi in the Vasylkiv district of Kyiv larger area. The doctors said he received multiple injuries after falling from a height.
Severely injured Chanov was unconscious while he was provided medical assistance. The doctors pronounced the former football player dead yesterday, Feb. 8.
"The information was entered into the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations. Criminal proceedings into Chanov's death were initiated under article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A forensic examination was commissioned to establish the cause of his death. All materials collected by members of the prosecutor's office will be transferred to the National Police Main Directorate in the Kyiv region as the incident occurred in Kyiv larger area," Kosovskyi said.
