"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has invited the German ambassador to provide explanations in connection with his remarks in an interview with RBC-Ukraine," the press service said.

Earlier, Reichel said in an interview it was not necessarily that the elections in the Donbas will take place only when there will be no Russian troops or Ukrainian flag will be posted on each city administration.

As an example, the ambassador cited the last 1990 parliamentary elections in the German Democratic Republic, which took place in the presence of Soviet troops.

About 30 Verkhovna Rada deputies are calling on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon Reichel in connection with his statements.
