The president emphasized that Russians had failed to present the position of Ukraine as a party that violates the cease-fire. "Everything is exactly the opposite - receiving relevant orders from the Ministry of Defense, pursuant to my instruction, our representative in the Special Center for Coordination and Control has been demonstrating constant willingness to cease fire. At least for humanitarian pause, with a view to restore the supply. I emphasize - not only in the part of Avdiivka controlled by the Ukrainian troops, but also to stop that nightmare in Donetsk with restricted heat and water supply, for there are our citizens as well and we also care for them," the president added.

Poroshenko emphasized that Russia and its militants were fully responsible for the violent escalation of the situation in the industrial area of Avdiivka and the shelling of the residential areas that killed and wounded civilians, journalists and Ukrainian military. "Thesis that Russia does not control them is absolutely false, because there are Russian career military personnel in every unit and they fulfill the orders of the Russian Federation," the head of state noted adding that the offensive operation against the Ukrainian troops had been organized by Russian military and militants under their control.

The Ukrainian party has done everything possible to repel these attacks initiated in late January. And it always insists on the necessity of cease-fire. This night, MLRS system shelled the residential areas of Avdiivka and the humanitarian aid facility killing civilians," Petro Poroshenko said.
