 Last tribute to 72nd Brigade Lieutenant Leonid Derhach killed at Avdiivka to be paid on Kyiv’s Maidan Nezalezhnosti on Friday

The farewell ceremony for 72nd Mechanized Brigade Lieutenant Leonid Derhach killed in a battle in the vicinity of Avdiivka will be held on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv on Friday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the members of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade.

As reported, Derhach was killed while carrying out a combat mission to protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine near the town of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region on the morning of Feb. 1.

Derhach was born March 24, 1979, served as a law enforcement officer, and became Associate Professor of Law at Fedkovych National University in Chernivtsi in 2005.

According to the Chernivtsi City Council, he joined the ranks of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade and served in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) after Russia launched its campaign in the east of Ukraine. His call sign was Akademik (academician - Ed.). Derhach has recently been involved in training rookies who arrived in the ATO zone after he survived an injury.
