As reported by Gazeta.UA news outlet, the soldier was a native of Vyshnopil village in Talne district of the Cherkasy region.
"He was a very positive guy, modest and decent child, an athlete. I do not know what his last military occupation was. Dmytro grew up in a large family - he had two brothers and two sisters. His relatives live in the Kirovohrad region. His father is very ill," village council chairwoman Tetiana Hudzenko said.
According to preliminary information, Dmytro Overchenko will be buried in Vyshnopil on Wednesday.
