As reported by Censor.NET citing UNIAN, deputy prosecutor of the Dnipropetrovsk region Yurii Cherkashyn announced at a briefing.
According to him, Puhachov's guilt is proved. The examination has found the blood on his shoe was that of murdered patrolman Artem Kutushev. The main evidence will be the testimony of eyewitnesses in court.
Cherkashyn says 44 judicial examinations have been conducted and more than 150 people have been questioned. The investigators have failed to find the murder weapon so far.
Puhachov himself pleads not guilty and refuses to testify. The open hearing will take place at the Kirov district court of Dnipro on Jan. 27.
As reported, a traffic law violator shot a patrol officer dead and wounded his female colleague in Dnipro in late September 2016. According to preliminary information, the patrol crew stopped a Citroen car for violation of traffic rules. The driver began to resist the police officers, made a few shots, and fled the scene. Policeman Artem Kutushev died on spot, while his female partner officer Olha Makarenko did not survive a surgery.
Later, the interior minister said a suspect in the murder was detained in a hospital where he had come for treatment of a gunshot wound caused by Kutushev. He turned out to be previously convicted Oleksandr Puhachov, a former Tornado Battalion fighter. Puhachov, who refused to testify, was indicted for murder of two police officers.
Tragic footage from the chest camera of murdered police officer Artem Kutushev was uploaded online later. The Interior Ministry says they will not publish the entire camera record for ethical reasons.
