 Yefremov escorted to detention facility in Luhansk region, - lawyer

Starobelsk district court of the Luhansk region planned to hold private hearing of the case against ex-Head of the Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th convocation Oleksandr Yefremov on Friday, Jan. 13, but adjourned it for early next week.

As reported by Censor.NET, Yefremov's legal counsel Oleksandr Melnikov told Interfax-Ukraine that the defense was not formally notified about the hearing.

He also noted that, according to the lawyers' information, Yefremov was escorted from detention center in Kyiv to Luhansk region.

In turn, another Yefremov's lawyer Andrii Smirnov told the news agency that Starobelsk district court could hold the private session on Jan. 16 or 17.

As reported, the extension of Yefremov 's measure of restraint had been considered five days in a row starting from Nov. 19. The previous session of the court began in the morning of Nov. 23 and lasted for 17 hours. It was over at 3:15 a.m. Nov. 24 and was adjourned until 9 a.m.

Earlier, Yefremov was detained in Boryspil airport the morning of July 30 on suspicion of infringement of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Yefremov is also accused of financing separatists in the Luhansk region and appropriating the assets of Luhanskvuhillia SE.
