“Poroshenko has distorted information,” - District Council Head Boiko, who interrupted president's speech in Odesa

The charges voiced by Poroshenko as he was introducing the new chairman of the Odesa Regional State Administration were based on distorted information provided to him by the people standing behind corruption and organized crime in the country.

Chairman of the Odesa region's Shyriaieve District State Administration Taras Boiko, who raised his hand and tried to protest against charges brought by the president in his speech during introduction of the new region governor, wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Did I feel sick when I raised my hand? I remember the day of Sept. 10, 2015, when all of us - heads of district councils of the Odesa region along with Mikheil Saakashvili - were listening carefully to every Poroshenko's word about the law and order in the country, welfare of ordinary people during the reception at the Presidential Administration. That is why my response to the question whether I felt sick is positive. You can use these words to describe my state.

"I dropped everything to work for the benefit of our country. I spent a year and a half of my life on public service with a 3,000 hryvnia (about $115 monthly) salary received over first six months, and it was very hard for me to hear a series of allegations from President Petro Poroshenko against former Governor Mikheil Saakashvili and my colleagues - district councils heads, who have been responsibly and honestly performing their duties since October 2015. These allegations were based on distorted information provided to him by those who stand behind all the corrupt practices and organized crime in the country.

"The president's words about decent people who won the elections to the UTCs (United Territorial Communities), namely in the Odesa region, became the last straw. From what I have heard at the meeting, the fact that Petro Poroshenko is provided with distorted information is a rock-solid truth for me. That is why I raised my hand, as otherwise the meeting would have ended and all of this would become a part of usual framework. And I have made an attempt to somehow unhinge this framework," the official explained his actions.

Poroshenko slammed Saakashvili's activities as head of the Odesa Regional State Administration during the introduction of his successor. Chairman of the Odesa region's Shyriaieve District State Administration Taras Boiko raised his hand in attempt to make an objection to president's allegations. Poroshenko reprimanded him: "I will give you the floor when you become the president, and you will be delivering speech instead of me. I have not given you the floor so far." However, the president listened to all the comments that Boiko wanted to express when the official part of the regional governor introduction was over.
