95 unique manuscripts have disappeared from the Lviv Art Gallery, Censor.NET reports citing Zaxid.net quoting gallery's director Taras Wozniak.
The black market price of the stolen books can reach tens of millions of U.S. dollars.
According to Wozniak, only old-printed books in Cyrillic are being checked so far.
"All this has been obviously plundered over decades. We have not yet checked old books in German, Polish and other languages. They are even more valuable in terms of import," he said.
The information has already been communicated to the Security Service and the police.
However, as reported by Dyvys.info citing the National Police in the Lviv region, no report on disappearance of rare books have been recently received from the gallery.
