 Suspect in double murder in Odesa region encircled, offered to surrender, - police

In the Ovidiopol district of the Odesa region, law enforcers encircled a man suspected of the murder of a woman and a 2-year old child and offered him to surrender.

National Police spokeswoman Olena Voitenko told UNIAN, Censor.NET reports.

Today at dawn, she said, the police resumed the active phase of a special operation to detain the attacker who is reasonably suspected of murdering a woman and a 2-year-old child.

"He has been localized in an uninhibited countryside area in the Ovidiopol district. The police is closing in, he is offered to give up," Voitenko added.

The operation involves more than 500 people: the police, the National Guard, Security Service of Ukraine and others.

On Dec. 29, law enforcers blocked the road to Odesa to prevent an attacker who attempted to drive a stolen MAN truck into crowds.

The wanted criminal carries a firearm.

The said truck belongs to the family of the victims. The attacker stole it after committing the crime. He has not been previously tried and has a family.
