Turchynov hopes Ukraine’s record-breaking defense budget-2017 is backed by 'real money'

National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov says all the funds envisaged for the country’s defense and security must be real, while the resources designated for financing many defense programs must be filled up.

As reported by Censor.NET, Turchynov said on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"5.9 percent (of the country's GDP - Ed.) have been stipulated for the defense and security. This is the largest amount designated so far. But it is critical that all the funds assigned for our country's security and defense were real to avoid this year's situation with empty resources, when you realize that the parliament again failed to adopt a decision on special confiscation of funds designated to be spend for many defense programs. I hope all these decisions will be adopted and the budget will allow us to protect our country," he said.
