The Ukrainian military firmly hold new positions near Kalynivka.

"Non-stop fighting is underway in the area of responsibility of the 54th Brigade near Svitlodarsk. Dense small arms fire, artillery and mortar barrage have been unleashed for five days now, while the intensity of attacks is lower than on Dec. 18-19.

"Our troops firmly hold the new positions outside Kalynivka, seized from Russian mercenaries.

"Unfortunately, one more Ukrainian soldier of the 1st Battalion, the 54th Brigade died yesterday in a shell blast, two were wounded.

"Our military are giving a fitting rebuff to the enemy.

"Unfortunately, a soldier of the 1st Battalion, who went missing on Dec. 18, was found dead yesterday. His body has been evacuated.

"Two our soldiers are confirmed to have fallen into the hands of the enemy. They advanced too deep...

"Negotiations are underway with Russian militants to swap the bodies of those killed in combat. The exchange is scheduled for the near future.

"Thus, the total losses of the 25th and the 1st Battalions of the 54th Brigade at the Svitlodarsk salient make nine killed during Dec. 18-22 (six from the 1st Battalion, three from the 25th Battalion). The information is proved by respective headquarters of the two battalions, whose responsibility area is in the epicenter of fighting," Butusov said.
