The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) registered fewer cease-fire violations in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions compared with the previous reporting period, including some 730 explosions in the Donetsk region Dec. 20, Censor.NET reports citing the OSCE SMM's latest report.
During the previous reporting period, the SMM recorded some 1,000 explosions.
The majority of cease-fire violations were recorded in the areas around Svitlodarsk, Debaltseve and Horlivka (57, 58 and 39 north-east of Donetsk, respectively).
During the evening of Dec. 19, while in government-controlled Svitlodarsk, the SMM heard, within 22 minutes, 71 explosions assessed as outgoing 152 mm artillery rounds 6 km south-east and 5 km south.
"During the morning of Dec. 20, while in the same location, the SMM heard 70 explosions assessed as outgoing 152 mm artillery rounds 5-6 km north-west, north and north-east, four explosions assessed as outgoing tank rounds 3-5 km south-east, 39 explosions assessed as the impacts of 120 mm mortar rounds 3-5 km south-west and south-east, and 64 explosions assessed as outgoing rounds from a recoilless gun (SPG-9, 73 mm) or an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV; BMP-1) cannon (73 mm) 3-5km south," the report reads.
On the evening of that day, the SMM heard 45 explosions assessed as outgoing 122 mm artillery rounds 4-5 km south-east.
During the evening of Dec. 19, while in "DPR"-controlled Debaltseve, the SMM heard, within one hour, 133 undetermined explosions 8-15km north-west.
During the morning of Dec. 20, while at the same location, the SMM heard 27 undetermined explosions 5-7 km north-north-west and north. Positioned in "DPR"-controlled Vuhlehirsk (49 km north-east of Donetsk), the SMM heard 173 undetermined explosions 6-10 km north-north-west and 19 undetermined explosions 6-8 km north-east.
During Dec. 17, 18, the OSCE SMM documented the majority of cease-fire violations in the area of Svitlodarsk and Debaltseve in the Donetsk region.
