Turchynov at Svitlodarsk salient: Ukrainian army will adequately respond to all provocations by Russian hybrid troops

Given the aggravation of the situation in the Svitlodarsk salient, constant provocations by Russian hybrid forces and the spike in fighting, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov has arrived at the "hot" sector of the front line to meet with the command of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO).

Censor.NET reports referring to the NSDC press service.

Visiting the advanced positions of the 54th Brigade that "heroically withstood attacks of the enemy," Turchynov inspected Ukrainian troops' defenses and talked to soldiers about the current situation in the area.

According to the NSDC secretary, Ukrainian positions have been shelled for four days in a row with militants using Minsk-banned artillery and mortars.

"Judging by the number of ordnance fired at our positions in the Svitlodarsk salient, a kind of record has been achieved - more than 800 a day," Turchynov said.

"Despite constant attacks and attempts to break through our defense, the Ukrainian military courageously and professionally fulfilled their duty, stopped the offensive and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy," he noted, adding that Ukrainian soldiers counter-attacked, moved forward and took up new positions, "which gave them an additional advantage over the enemy in the sector."

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces will continue to adequately respond to any provocations by Russian hybrid troops in all the sectors," Turchynov stressed.
