Dutch government approves bill on Ukraine-EU association deal

However, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte doubts the parliament will manage to ratify the agreement before elections scheduled for the next year.

Censor.NET reports citing Deutsche Welle.

The Cabinet of the Netherlands considers it necessary to ratify the agreement, AFP reports quoting Rutte as saying.

On Dec. 15, the European Union agreed on the Dutch objections concerning the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. The Netherlands' key requirement was to prevent the deal from becoming a stepping stone to Ukraine's membership in the EU.

The bill is still pending approval by the Dutch House of Representatives and the Senate. According to Rutte, he is not sure the agreement with Kyiv will be ratified before country's parliamentary elections scheduled on March 15, 2017.
