 Judge nabbed in Kyiv accepting $5,000 in bribe, - Kholodnytskyi

Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) Nazar Kholodnytskyi says a judge of the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal has been caught red-handed while accepting $5,000 in bribe.

SAP prosecutors together with Ukraine's Security Service, having properly recorded the fact of committing a serious corruption offense, apprehended a judge of the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal immediately upon the acceptance of undue profit in the amount of $5,000 for ruling in favor of a third party, Kholodnytskyi wrote.

According to him, the detained judge faces imprisonment for a term of five to 10 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.

Given the gravity of the crime, SAP prosecutors are going to ask the court to remand the perpetrator in custody.
