Ukrainian ID cards to contain electronic signatures, - Dnipro City Acting Deputy Mayor Merilo

The ID cards of the Ukrainian citizens will have digital signatures recorded on them.

Acting Deputy Mayor of Dnipro City, an expert for Ukraine's e-government agency Jaanika Merilo wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Congratulations! The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree on the introduction of electronic signature to the ID cards today (Nov. 30 - Ed.). This means that this cool piece of plastic will become a real tool for gaining access to electronic services and certifying all types of documents by the electronic signature in the future. Our efforts were not committed in vain. This is a true reform.

"Dnipro City will be one of the first to accept applications to issue passports in the new format and ID cards. My congratulations to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Maksym Sokoliuk (State Migration Service head - Ed.) and special thanks to the IT Committee members - Oleksandr Danchenko, Roman Semenukha, Ruslan Lukianchuk and others," Merilo wrote.
