 Russia’s Defense Ministry delivers Ukraine protest note over missile-firing exercise planned near occupied Crimea

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation summoned the Defense Attaché at the Embassy of Ukraine in Russia Friday to present military-diplomatic note in connection with Ukraine’s plans to hold missile-firing exercise near occupied Crimea.

"The south-eastern borders of the danger-restricted area declared by the Ukrainian side assault the frontiers of the territorial waters of the Russian Federation, which is a violation of international law and Russian legislation," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The paper handed over to him (Ukraine's Defense Attaché) expresses protest of the Russian Defense Ministry in connection with the illegal restriction to use airspace over the Black Sea to the west of the Crimean Peninsula on Dec. 1,2, 2016 imposed by the Ukrainian side to hold missile-firing exercise," the Russian defense agency said.
