Russian military detained at border with Crimea defected from Ukrainian army after peninsula occupation, - SBU spokesperson

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) arrested two deserters at the border with Crimea who joined the Russian army after it had occupied the peninsula.

This was stated by spokesperson for the SBU Olena Hitlianska, Censor.NET reports referring to Lіga.

"We detained two defectors who crossed the border near Chonhar. They served in the Ukrainian army but joined the Russian one after the illegal annexation of Crimea," Hitlianska said.

The Russian media reported Monday evening that the Russian Defense Ministry accused the Ukrainian special services of the alleged illegal detention of two Russian servicemen in Crimea and their delivery to the continental part of Ukraine.
