Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin believes Russia may step up aggression against Ukraine during the transition of power in the United States.

He said on air of Inter TV station, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"Of course, the following months will not be as easy as it used to be. For example, Russia has the opportunity to use this period of transition to a new administration [in the U.S. - ed.] to further destabilize the situation," Klimkin said.

When asked what he expects of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's December visit to Ukraine, the minister said there are a lot of issues to be discussed in terms of budget adoption and aid to Ukraine.

As reported earlier, President Petro Poroshenko hopes the U.S. will not drop its support of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression after Donald Trump has been elected next American president.
