Russian troops deployed along border with Ukraine hold snap exercise

The 20th Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District of the Russian Federation stationed in the Voronezh, Belgorod, and Bryansk regions held snap exercise as part of the command post rehearsal.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation via UNIAN.

"The exercise will consist of the scheduled operation conducted by a force grouping on one of the strategic directions using a wide range of weapons against a simulated enemy. The Staffs have yet to demonstrate the ability to quickly assess a situation, find intelligent solution and provide sustained troops command and control under rapidly changing environment," the statement reads.

The Russian military will practice communication via the automated command and control system. The overhead personnel response protocol during the preparation of combat operations and troop leading will also be revised.

The exercise is claimed to be scheduled and consistent with the training program of the Western Military District in 2016.

As reported, President Vladimir Putin of Russia said that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation posed threat to no one while their primary task was to protect Russia's territory.
