"Yurii Shukhevych could be murdered, used as sacred sacrifice," – MP Liashko

Radical Party Head Oleh Liashko claims that the life of his faction member Yurii Shukhevych is in danger.

As reported by Censor.NET, Oleh Liashko said from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.

"We have received a message from a reliable source that the life of Yurii Shukhevych was in danger, that our colleague could be murdered in order to use his death to destabilize the situation in the country, to implement Moscow's plan to damage the country from within. The enemies of Ukraine want to use Yurii Shukhevych as a sacred sacrifice, as it was in the case of Heorhii Gongadze's murder," he said.

Oleh Liashko urged the president and SBU chairman to grant protection to Shukhevych.

He also warned Shukhevych against appearing in public places in the next few days, asked him to be vigilant and cautious.

Liashko later said on the sidelines of the parliament that the Kremlin and Viktor Medvedchuk could be possibly involved in this provocation.

He also noted that he was going to tackle this issue at the meeting with President Petro Poroshenko scheduled for 3 p.m. today.

"We demand to immediately suspend Medvedchuk from the negotiations in Minsk. We demand apprehension of Medvedchuk's aide Oleksandr Bilyk, who tried to use our faction member. We demand the SBU to immediately launch the investigation and establish whether Medvedchuk has something to do with the plotted assassination of my colleague Yurii Shukhevych," Lyashko said.

"I am going to call on the president and Prosecutor General Lutsenko to immediately request the Verkhovna Rada's consent for Yurii Boiko's detention and confinement over yesterday's assault," the lawmaker stressed.
