EU has principled position on Crimea annexation and situation in Ukraine, - Mogherini on EU-Russia relations

EU will not change its position towards Crimea annexation and the situation in Ukraine regardless of possible shifts in policies of other countries.

This was announced by EU HR for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini after an informal meeting of the European Union's Foreign Ministers in Brussels on Sunday evening, Nov. 13, 2016, Censor.NET reports.

"The European Union has a very principled position on the illegal annexation of Crimea and the situation in Ukraine. This is not going to change regardless of possible shifts in others' policies. But on the other side we talk with Russia and we work with Russia on many different things, including, for instance, the Iran deal, where we worked wonderfully well together, or the Middle East peace process, or Lybia, counter-terrorism," Mogherini said to journalists after the meeting.

The diplomat said the EU did not know yet what the policy of the next U.S. administration will be, but expected lasting cooperation.

Mogherini said the EU knows clearly its position on the EU interests and principles, and these interests include cooperation with the U.S., but the States has to determine its international agenda first, the diplomat stressed.

Earlier, Federica Mogherini said the EU's position on Ukraine and Crime would not change if Donald Trump was elected the U.S. president.
