Russia’ Medvedev does not expect sanctions to be lifted after Trump’s victory

Russia proceeds from the assumption that the sanctions will be maintained despite the power shift in Washington following the U.S. presidential elections.

This was stated by the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia, Censor.NET reports citing TASS.

Asked what were the chances that the US influence on Europe would diminish and the anti-Russian sanctions would be lifted following Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election, Medvedev said: "Regardless of the election results in any country including such important one as the United States, our assumptions remain unchanged, including the one that the sanctions will be maintained."

According to Medvedev, the government's economic projection for 2017-2018 was "based on the assumption that the sanctions will not be lifted."
