A gang of kidnappers, who demanded a $500,000 ransom for a director of a construction company, has been apprehended.

Censor.NET reports referring to National Police deputy chief Vadym Troian's Facebook page.

The gang was tracked shortly after the incident, Troian said.

He added that Tuesday morning, a group of criminals portraying Ukraine's Security Service agents abducted a director of a construction company and asked for a $500,000 ransom.

"The victim was tortured with a plastic bag over his head.

"The youngest abductor is only 20 years old. Another member of the gang is a former GRU officer who used to serve in hot spots. The police seized automatic weapons. No one was hurt during the operation," Troian wrote.
